Making sense of 20th Century Art is sometimes difficult as making sense of the century that produced it. There are two basic assumptions behind this course, firstly that it is not only possible but indeed highly desirable to make sense of both. and secondly that the two confusions, difficulties or conflicts have a shared source. It leads to a neat assumption that making sense of one may assist in making sense of the other!
