Explore the traditional craft of basket making. Make a beautiful woven platter using different coloured willows.

A Level 2 workshop in polymer clay (Fimo) that will incorporate some elements of a basic workshop. This course will take you to a level that will include a ’Skinner’ blend and other elements to enhance your work. Open to all students, whether you have attended a basic or Level 2 class before.

A workshop in polymer clay (Fimo) making handmade beads finishing with a wearable piece of bespoke jewellery.

Event: Nature's Rainbow - Dyeing with Plants Tutor: Susan Dye Group: Occasional WorkshopsDate: 18th February 2012 Time: 10.00 am - 4.00 pm Room: Spinks
Come and use a variety of dyes extracted from plants which grow abundantly in our climate. You will leave with samples of fabric/threads/yarns and fibre for use in creative projects.
There will be a choice of dye-vats and after-baths to produce a wide range of hues and shades. There will be advice on growing your own along with seed-share and cuttings for sale.
All are welcome whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience already.

An opportunity to try out two hand-printing techniques, which are great fun and can be carried out with simple equipment at your kitchen table. We will be creating both linocut and a monotype prints during the day and you will leave with plenty of ideas to try at home.
Beginners welcome. You will need to wear old clothes and bring a wooden spoon. All other equipment and materials are supplied. Please bring drawings, photos, sketches, magazines etc. for your source of inspiration.

Get Writing!’ has been running at the Settlement for the past five years. Now I am proposing to add a one-off Saturday morning workshop for experienced and beginner writers.
The morning will include new exercises plus popular elements of earlier courses. You should go home inspired with ideas for your own writing.

Understand the techniques used to model simple flowers or to pipe them using royal icing. Have the opportunity to sue simple modelling tools. You will complete a decorated basket cake for Easter.

This season we are celebrating our 90th Anniversary. The highlight of our year will be a new presentation by one of Britain’s top professional landscape photographers, Joe Cornish, Hon FRPS. Familiar to most people through his work for the National Trust as well as published books, Joe’s passion for landscape photography is evident from the stunning images he has produced over 25 years as a professional photographer.
