  1. From Cambridge and Baldock (A505)

    Leave Baldock by A505, signed Letchworth & Hitchin.  At 2nd roundabout take 3rd exit into Pixmore Way.  (St. Paul's Church is on your left as you enter Pixmore Way.)  Take 3rd exit at next roundabout.  Continue along Norton Way South/North, going ahead at several roundabouts, until you go under railway bridge.  Nevells Road is then 1st left, with The Settlement on your left — shortly after junction.  Use Car Park.  (Cambridge — 25 miles).

  2. From Buntingford (A507).

    On entering Baldock on the A507, follow signs for Letchworth A6141.  Keep Tesco to your right, and continue until you reach the junction with the A1(M).  Continue along the A6141, following the directions below ["From London, Stevenage and The North - A1"].

  3. From London, Stevenage and The North — A1(M).

    Leave A1(M) motorway at Junction 9 with A6141 (signed Letchworth).  Follow signs for Letchworth, A6141.  Continue round "Longabout", taking 2nd exit at roundabout by St. Paul's Church (entering Pixmore Way), then 3rd exit at roundabout by Central Methodist Church.  Go along Norton Way South/North, going ahead at several roundabouts, until you go under a railway bridge.  Nevells Road is then 1st left, with The Settlement on your left — shortly after junction.  Use Car Park.  (Peterborough 50 miles; South Mimms (M25) 23 miles; Stevenage 7 miles). 

  4. From Bedford, Ampthill, A5, M1 (Southbound) — (via A507).

    Leave M1 at Junction 13 (Ridgmont — 25 miles, 40 minutes from Letchworth).  Follow A507 onto the Arlesey & Stotfold bypass.  Continue ahead over a few roundabouts, ignoring the first turning for Letchworth.  At a roundabout, take the right turning signed "Norton, Letchworth".  Continue along Norton Road, turning left at the roundabout at the end in to Norton Way North.  Pass over 2 mini-roundabouts.  Before you get to the railway bridge, turn right into Nevells Road.  The Settlement is a few yards up on your left.  Use Car Park.

  5. From Hitchin and Luton (A505).

    From Luton, follow A505 to Hitchin.  Follow signs for Letchworth.  Pass Hitchin railway station and under railway bridge.  Over Walsworth traffic lights.  At next roundabout turn left and continue along Wilbury Hills Road.  At top of hill, take 1st turn right into Icknield Way.  Continue for 1 mile, passing over 2 roundabouts until you see the Common on your left.  Take 2nd turn right into Cross Street.  At far end turn left, then immediately right into Settlement Car Park.  (Luton 14 miles).

  6. By Train.


    Letchworth is on the London (King's Cross)-Stevenage-Royston-Cambridge electric service, operated by First Capital Connect.  There are normally 2 trains per hour from Kings Cross (25-48 mins), 2 from Cambridge (30 mins), and hourly service via Hertford North (You now mainly have to change at Stevenage for Hertford services — in such cases the Hertford train usually leaves from Platform 4 at Stevenage).  Certain Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) services from Peterborough and The North call at Stevenage — where you should cross to Platforms 3/4 for the local train to Letchworth.  When travelling from King's Cross, please note:
    • a.  The train is usually from platforms 9-11.  To get there, walk halfway down platform 8 and through the passageway.
    • b.  There are often two separate trains at the same platform, e.g. 9a at the front and 9b at the rear.
    • c.  There is a half-hourly off-peak express, travelling non-stop to Cambridge!
    • d.  If the train is going to/from Huntingdon or Peterborough, then you must change at Stevenage or Hitchin.

    From Letchworth Station, turn right and right again over railway bridge.  Right into Nevells Road.  The Settlement is at the far end on the right.

  7. By Bus

    Regular services to Letchworth from Luton, Hitchin, Baldock, Stevenage & Stotfold (services 54-56, 94,97,99).  If coming from Hitchin or Luton, alight at Plinston Hall in Broadway, or at Station (service 94 & 97).  Walk down Broadway from Plinston Hall, turning left at end, cross at zebra crossing by entrance to Barclays Bank.  Turn left, cross railway bridge, turn right into Nevells Road by the Police Station.  The Settlement is at the far end on the right.  Bus enquiries (Arriva The Shires): 08450 788788 Hertfordshire Travel Line: 08457 244344.
