Her classes are designed to help students at all levels learn to understand and work with the attributes of this transparent medium, painting with confidence and the developing the skills needed. Combining discussion and demonstration, each class combines some theory with plenty of practical work, including some experimenting to find the best methods and learn new techniques. I make commissioned work for a variety of settings, clients include the Forestry Commission, Wildlife Trust, Woodland Trust, J.D. Wetherspoons, and Mammoth Screen Productions. A fun afternoon exploring the use of watercolours and their possibilities. This is a relaxed workshop for those wishing to learn the basic techniques of painting with watercolours and includes simple colour theory. We will look at landscape, seascape, still life and skies, amongst other things. Please bring your own watercolour paper and some watercolour brushes – a fine liner and a couple of pencils will be useful too. With an interesting career behind her ranging from managing entertainments venues to qualifying as an accountant, Fiona came across watercolour painting almost accidentally but immediately loved it. Taking redundancy after maternity leave provided the opportunity to change direction and build a new career working with her new passion and becoming a watercolour specialist. She has been writing ARTicles for a local magazine for five years which has provided the opportunity for her to research manufacturing and production methods of art materials. Her classes are designed to help students at all levels learn to understand and work with the attributes of this transparent medium, painting with confidence and the developing the skills needed. Combining discussion and demonstration, each class combines some theory with plenty of practical work, including some experimenting to find the best methods and learn new techniques. Much of her focus is helping students see the world differently and interpret that vision loosely and freely into their watercolour painting. With a wide range of subjects to tackle each term, Fiona shares her extensive knowledge with flair, enthusiasm, and energy.

(Perfect for Christmas and Summer prep!) For more information, please contact Jane Neesam on 07742 292405 or jane@neesam.com Please bring a Notebook, tape measure, and sewing machine. Jane began to sew as a small child on her mother’s sewing machine and graduated with a degree in Fashion and Textiles from Leicester Polytechnic, specialising in Contour Fashion (corsetry, lingerie and swimwear). Working as a bra designer and later as a garment technologist in the lingerie industry, Jane relished the challenges and new skills that manufacturing presented. Whilst raising a family, Jane continued to sew from home, tackling anything from roman blinds to wedding dresses. Whilst training and qualifying as a tutor in the volunteer sector, Jane realised she could transfer those skills to share her passion and knowledge of making clothes with others. Her goal is to facilitate a sewing session where students can learn and develop at their own pace and where everyone feels valued and at ease. Drawing the human body is a wonderful way for anyone, from beginner to the more experienced, to improve their drawing skills. Using short and long poses, and a variety of media and materials we will explore the visual potential of the human form to create exciting images. Please bring something to make a drawn mark with and something to make a drawn mark on, be it a biro and scrap paper or pencil and sketchbook. Drawing has always been part of my life from childhood onwards, as has the natural world, and drawing has enabled me to really see the world around me. All of which has led to a degree in Scientific Illustration which has given me the skills to accurately describe this world. I have always wanted to share these skills which led me to teaching whilst continuing with my art. I have taught in adult education, taught adults with addiction, adults with learning difficulties, family learning, and children. I teach different art subjects, not just drawing, to different ages and abilities throughout Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
