First of all, we must apologise for the glitch at the end when we included words without an ‘L’ as correct answers to Round 5. All we can say is that we relaxed as we were on the home straight (a bit like those runners who slow down just before reaching the winning tape and are overtaken).
Congratulations on a very high-scoring quiz – although a few people lost points because they didn’t read the questions properly. Adding up went a bit adrift too – we think that people may have subtracted the number of incorrect answers from 10 on rounds that had 11 questions.
The answers that everyone knew are too numerous to mention, but there was only one that nobody did: the Japanese garden in Ware, even though we asked “where” it is. We decided to be generous and allow the Black Death as a correct answer although this name really applies just to the 14th Century plague outbreak. And our favourite, intentionally wrong answer was that the first Japanese tennis player to win a Grand Slam singles title is Nota Klu.
Before we announce the winners, we’d like to say a big THANK YOU to the person who donated the quiz prize, but who wishes to stay anonymous; we really appreciate it.
So….drum roll…congratulations to The Crackers – we’ll be in touch about your prize.
