I hope you are all well!  We have a splendid array of pre-Christmas activities taking place very soon!

AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Letchworth Educational Settlement will be held in the Kincaid Hall on Tuesday 25 November at 7.30pm.  You are invited to take a glass of wine or soft drink after the meeting with the Committee.

Christmas Arts and Crafts Fair

The Christmas Arts and Crafts Fair for 2025 is happening this Friday 28th November, 2-7pm!  Admission is FREE.

Please visit during the afternoon to see the fabulous arts & crafts sellers in the hall, and enjoy tea and cakes in the main building.  This, surely, is the essential Settlement event!  Look out for this year’s raffle tickets and make sure you buy lots of them!

Thank you for the wonderful hamper, tombola, or Settlement stall contributions you have already kindly donated.  Do please continue to bring items to the office throughout this week!  We can sell most things non-electrical.

If you are able to make cakes for the event please do so as these will be very much appreciated. Please being them in nearer the time.  Thank you very much.  See you there!

Stories for Under the Christmas Lights – Letchworth Settlement

On Saturday 13 December at 7.30pm in the hall, join the students of the Settlement’s ‘Get Writing For All’ night classes for an evening of Christmas storytelling and fun!  Mulled wine, mince pies and tales to tell, at this most magical time of year! (£7)

Write A Christmas Story – Letchworth Settlement Sunday 7 December 10am – 3:30pm  Would you like to surprise your friends and family with a short story for Christmas?  Even if you’ve never written fiction before, Elizabeth will offer guidance on how to build characters and place them in a setting where things will start happening! (£42)

Christmas Gingerbread House Felt Banner Workshop – Letchworth Settlement Sunday 7 December 10:30am – 2:30pm; Step into the festive season with a cosy, creative morning making your very own wool felt hanging banner. All materials provided. (£38)

A Christmas Carol – A Reading – Letchworth Settlement

The Living Theatre, the group that stunned the Letchworth Festival, returns to the Settlement on Friday 12th December at 7pm with three professional actors in a version of the famous story abridged by Charles Dickens. (Adults: £15; Children: £10)

Settlement Sessions

Yet another good evening last Friday at the Settlement Sessions saw Cut the Mustard produce some great blues music on their return to the Settlement.

We have a full programme of varied music coming up in the New Year, starting on Friday 23rd January with a performance from Nette Robinson a well-known jazz vocalist accompanied by her husband Tony Woods on sax and Meredith White on keyboards as they take us on a journey of Poems, Tales and Magical Islands. Our website gives you more information as to what this entails and a short video announcing the event.

Before then, on Friday 19th December, we have a different Christmas show, presented by acapella sextet Jack in a Barrel. They will be singing Christmas songs and carols, many of which will require your involvement as you get full of cheer ready for the festivities. Book here:
