The Film Journey: From Concept to Screen

What needs to happen before you sit down to enjoy watching a film? Starting with the sources for film content, and moving on to how films are financed and produced, we progress to how distribution rights are negotiated. The marketing of films takes place across many platforms, until the film reaches its final destination on screens near you or through other technologies.
This course introduces you to the basics of film production, distribution and exhibition and will be of interest to anybody who enjoys films for fun or who seeks to gain an understanding of these important area of the creative industries.

Name: Carlota Larrea
Bio: Dr Carlota Larrea taught film studies at the University of Bedfordshire before becoming Head of School of Arts and Creative Industries. Her postgraduate studies in the US focused on the links between film and literature. She has always been an avid film fan, since her youth in Spain where her home town had many independent cinemas showing films from Hollywood and around the world.
