Fundraising Committee news

The Fundraising Committee are continuing their efforts not only to entertain you but also to raise funds to help maintain and improve the Settlement buildings.

Before I let you know what is in store, I must just give a very big thanks to the lady who approached Alan at the last Settlement Sessions event to tell him about an act who her friend was raving about and who has a very interesting pedigree. Alan did some research and, to cut a long story short, we have booked Kate Garner for February 19th 2027. Put this date in your diary as Kate is the daughter of the late Chas Hodges (of Chas and Dave fame) and has inherited her father’s musical talents – playing the piano and singing as he did.

If anyone else has a suggestion for future events then please do contact either Alan or I.

The next Settlement Sessions  event is a sell-out concert from the Letchworth Arts and Leisure Group Ukulele Ensemble. We hope to invite them again in 2027, so look out for future newsletters, particularly if you missed out this time.

Then, for a change of direction, on Saturday 7th March we are bringing back “Whose Wine is it Anyway?”, our popular and fun wine quiz, where our sneaky panel of experts will provide three plausible but different descriptions of some interesting wines being tasted. Tickets are £15 with maximum teams of 6. Tickets are on sale now so make sure you make a purchase as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

The following week, on 12th, 13th and 14th March, The Settlement Players bring us another of their excellent plays, this one being Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None”. Tickets are £10 and on sale via the Settlement Website or in cash from David’s Music.

After all this excitement, we then come back to the Settlement Sessions where very talented New Orleans Jazz Pianist and singer, Dale Storr, will be in the Kincaid Hall on Friday 27th March (doors 19.00 for 19.30 start) to play music and sing songs from the Delta. Tickets are on sale at £14 with a good number already gone so please do visit the website now for more details and some You Tube links to his music.

The Fundraising Committee is always keen to hear from our members with suggestions for future events and we also look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our future events.

Kind regards

Russell Friese

Manager
