Annual General Meeting

The 2021 AGM took place on Tuesday 23 November 2021 at 7.30pm in the Kincaid Hall.

Message from the Chair

It is with relief that this year we are planning to hold the AGM in person.  Zoom has been a great asset over the past year but it is so much better to be able to meet in person again.

We had intended to arrange a Members’ General Meeting during the year but with the COVID-19 situation making everything so uncertain, our priorities were to keep the Settlement afloat, offer what we could online and be ready to open our doors again when we were allowed.  So, at the AGM, we look forward to bringing you up to date with what has been happening at the Settlement and sharing our plans for the future with you.

Likewise, we had also planned to carry out a review of the Settlement’s Constitution to ensure it was in line with the latest Charity Commission guidance and best practise.  Again, this has not been considered a priority over the last year and therefore it is still work in progress.  We hope to make a recommendation at the 2022 AGM.

We would like to invite Members to enjoy a glass of wine or soft drink with us after the AGM.

Below is the agenda for the 2021 AGM.

Also below are the unapproved minutes of the 2020 AGM and the approved minutes of the 2019 AGM .

Nomination of Officers and other trustees

The terms of office for the current Officers and other trustees expire at the AGM but they are eligible to stand for re-election, or election if they were co-opted by the Management Committee during the year.

The Settlement’s Constitution provides for a minimum of eight trustees, including the Officers.

If you would like to stand for election, please complete the nomination form below and return it to the Secretary at [email protected], or to 229 Nevells Road, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 4UB by Friday 19 November 2021.

Please note that to stand for election as a trustee you must be a Member of the Settlement, as must your proposer, who should not be a family member.

For information, the current Officers and all but one of the other trustees (both those elected at the last AGM and those co-opted during the year) have currently indicated that they will be standing for election.

A list of those standing for election will be available below before the AGM.

Annual Report and Financial Statements

Below is the Annual Report and the examined Financial Statements for the year ended 31 July 2020.

The financial statements for the year ended 31 July 2021 are currently being prepared for independent examination.  Unfortunately, the review (prior to their submission to the independent examiner) has not yet been completed – this is due to a time issue.  The Management Committee is responsible for signing off the report and financial statements prior to their circulation to the Members.  As the Members will not be able to receive them at the AGM, the Committee will make them available to Members as soon as the independent examination has been completed and they have been signed off by the Committee.
