Everyone is familiar with the 1001 Nights. But if current Middle Eastern Literature interests you, then join Wafa Tarnowska on a journey with amazing writers such as Naguib Mahfouz, Egyptian Nobel Prize Winner; Elif Shafak, the Turkish-British author whose novel “The 40 Rules of Love” was listed by the BBC as one of the 100 Novels that Shaped our World. Meet Hisham Matar, a British-Libyan author who won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize, Isabella Hamad winner of the Royal Society of Literature Encore Award, and Hanan el Sheikh, writer of the Story of Zahra about the Lebanese Civil War.

Name: Wafa Tarnowska

Bio: Wafà was born and educated in Lebanon, but has worked and lived in Australia, India, Poland, Cyprus, the UAE, and the UK. In addition to being a French, Arabic and English as a Second Language teacher, Wafà is a writer, translator, and storyteller. She has written seven children’s books and has translated children’s stories from English into Arabic in addition to TV documentaries from Arabic to English. She loves travelling, visiting art galleries and museums, going to the opera and ballet, walking in nature, practicing yoga, swimming, and dancing. http://www.wafatarnowska.co.uk
