Chinese Brush Painting: Flower and Bird

Suitable for beginners and improvers. In this module we will be looking at Chinese flower and bird compositions and the way in which they are represented in Chinese art. We will learn the techniques for representing some of the traditional Chinese flowers and birds and the traditional compositions.

Customer Information: If you have Chinese brush painting materials please bring them with you.

Everyone: Please bring:

• 2 jars

• 2 saucers (or a mixing palette)

• kitchen towel

For the first class only, please pay £5 directly to the tutor for consumable materials (paint, ink, colours, paper). Brushes may be borrowed.

Your Tutor

Name: Marion Dearlove

Bio: Marion Dearlove has a master’s degree in adult education, a City and Guilds adult teaching diploma, and has an undergraduate diploma in art and design. She started Chinese brush painting in 2001 and has studied with Chinese tutors in both the UK and in China. She began teaching Chinese Brush Painting in 2006 and has taught ad hoc classes throughout the UK. Marion is currently Secretary of the National Society for Chinese Brush Painting and Secretary and teacher of one of the regional divisions.
