Patchwork and Quilting – taking your skills further with Sheena Roberts

Seeing Art Through Fabric: Shape, Balance, and Stitch:
In this relaxed workshop, we’ll explore how an abstract collage by Loló Soldevilla can inspire a quilt composition. No art history experience is needed — we’ll focus on looking, noticing shapes and balance, and translating those ideas into fabric.
Rather than copying the artwork, you’ll experiment with simple shapes, colour, and placement to create a small quilt inspired by what you see. The emphasis is on process, exploration, and enjoying the creative journey, with gentle guidance throughout.
This workshop is ideal for quilters who enjoy machine sewing and want to build confidence while exploring art-inspired quilting.

Your Tutor
Name: Sheena Roberts
Bio: Sheena Roberts has been sewing since she was tiny and creating patchwork quilts for almost as long. She didn’t start off being a confident seamstress. In fact, was all but thrown out of the class at school, but she had someone who did not give up on her – and that has influenced her to want to “pass that forward”. Her passion is in sharing skills, and she has been doing that through Green Man Quilts since 2013. Sheena holds a B.Ed., as well as the City & Guilds Certificate and Diploma in Patchwork and Quilting. She is a member of the Quilters’ Guild of Britain and Ireland, and their Modern and Contemporary Special Interest Groups, and a member of the Modern Quilt Guild. She would love to share that passion with you and help you become the best quilter that you can be.
