Portrait Painting in Oils

This course is suitable for students with previous painting experience as well as beginners looking for guidance.
During the course we will explore portrait composition, choosing a palette, colour mixing and colour relationships.
Everyone will be encouraged to build in their own natural strengths and style within the painting process.

Customer Information: You will need to bring. – Your own portrait references – Canvas Board – Oil paint set – Paper Palette – Overalls – Palette knife – Selection of brushes – mixing medium.
Additional materials will be discussed in the first lesson so don’t worry about having everything ready for this first session
Your Tutor
Name: Komathy Cumarasamy
Bio: Komathy is Sri Lankan born and studied art up to degree level in Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
She now specialises in portraiture, figures, and modern/contemporary styles. She loves experimenting and is experienced at handling a variety of mediums, having formally studied colour mixing and skin-tone techniques at City Lit College, London.
Komathy has undertaken several portrait commissions, and has developed her skills with other local projects. Komathy finds her art workshops at the MS Therapy Centre in Bedford particularly rewarding.
She has been invited to exhibit at various private exhibitions within our local community and in 2021, one of her oil paintings was selected for inclusion in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. It was sold before the event opened to the public.
