
Watercolour layers in plants

In this 2-hour watercolour workshop we will focus on building up depth in plants and foliage through watercolour layers. Looking at how underpainting affects the colours you lay on top and how to create deeper contrast in your plants. This is aimed at those who are beginners with watercolours, but want to progress beyond the basic introduction level.

Name: Becky Ullah
Bio: Becky is one of the resident artists at The Settlement and was a recent fellow at Digswell Arts Trust. She has been working as a full-time artist since leaving medicine 3 years ago and has produced detailed watercolour botanicals fused with anatomy, which were exhibited at The Royal College of Physicians in June 2024 and at the Mall Galleries with the Society of Botanical Artists. She is a stockist at Chelsea Physic Gardens, where she draws great inspiration for her work. Becky also regularly paints commissions and artwork for sale in acrylic paints, enjoying using other techniques like drip-painting and resin layers often painting bold, colourful animals and florals.
