Bursary of £1,000 to support younger Settlement Members

The Settlement has set up a small bursary of £1,000 to support younger Settlement Members to attend its courses.  We are pleased to offer a grant for up to 50% of the cost of one of our courses to any Member who is aged between 18 and 30 years old.

The conditions of the grant are as follows:

  • The person applying must be a Member of the Settlement.
  • The person applying must be aged between 18 and 30 years old at the commencement of the course.
  • An application can be made for a course that covers a whole term (usually between 10-12 weeks) or for the same course that it split into two shorter periods (usually 5 weeks).
  • The applicant will need to provide proof of age* before any grant is made.
  • Only one application can be made in the academic year, but if the bursary is offered in a subsequent year, a further application can be made if the above conditions are still met.
  • If an application is made and there are insufficient funds left in the bursary to cover the whole of the grant, a part payment may be offered.
  • The grant does not apply to fees for membership, workshops or events.
  • Receipt of a grant will not prevent the person applying for a concession (in accordance with the Settlement’s Concessions policy) to enrol on another course during the academic year.

To apply for a grant, please contact the Settlement Manager at settlementmanager@letchworthsettlement.org.uk
