The Great Exhibition of 1851

In the middle of the 19th century, London played host to the first ever World’s Fair, featuring products and manufactures from around the globe. The venue built for it was a wonder itself: the famed Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, which was transferred to South London after the Exhibition ended.

Bio: Tim Parrott took his degree at Cambridge then worked as a schoolteacher before specialising in explaining Popular Science to general audiences. In addition to Cosmology, Physics and Evolutionary Biology, he also teaches courses on architectural structure, always with a view to developing the knowledge and understanding of people without a background in Science who nonetheless want to know more.
